1 October 2011 – Quick/Krieger Wedding – Katy Depot

October 3, 2011 by david

Four Strings provided a solo cello for the outdoor wedding of Grant Krieger and Angela Quick at the Katy Depot in Denison, TX on Saturday, October 1, 2011. While a solo instrumentalist is unusual for us, the single cello was nicely suited for the more casual atmosphere of the prelude, as guests mingled and conversed in the (thankfully) temperate Texas weather.

Prelude
Selections from Suites for Violoncello Solo – Bach

Ceremony
Processional of the Bride: Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin – Wagner
Recessional: Wedding March from A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Mendelssohn

Musicians
David Cason – Violoncello

Feedback
David, Thank you for being part of our special day! We appreciate your sharing your musical talents with us.
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Krieger

20 August 2011 – Hittle/Arani Wedding – Bella Donna Chapel

August 21, 2011 by david

A mid-afternoon wedding this time, and in a new venue for us – the Bella Donna Chapel in McKinney, TX. The chapel sits on a peninsula surrounded by water in the middle of the Adriatica development, itself inspired by Old World Croatian architecture. The acoustics in the chapel are remarkable – a perfect natural environment for strings. The music for the prelude and ceremony was mostly classical, but with a few surprises thrown in, like this one:

July 24, 2011 by david

Four Strings provided a string quartet for this wedding at Ashton Gardens in Corinth, TX. The picture above is from the balcony where the musicians perform, which provides both a fine view and extraordinary acoustics. The wedding chapel, with its tall windows and wooded surroundings, provides the ambience of an outdoor wedding, but with none of the risks of July in Texas!

The music for the ceremony was classical and traditional, perfectly matched to the setting and ceremony.

Prelude:
Quartet 19 – Mozart
XVI from ‘Suite in G Major (Water Music)’ – Handel
March from ‘Hercules’ – Handel
Adagio (1874) – von Hyrt
Aria from ‘Suite in G Major (Water Music)’ – Handel
March from ‘Song of the Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ’ – Charpentier
Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring – Bach
March from ‘Occasional Oratorio’ – Handel
Hornpipe from ‘Suite in D Major (Water Music)’ – Handel
Air – Bach

Seating of Honored Guests/Bridal Party: Air from ‘Suite in F Major (Water Music)’ – Handel
Bridal Processional: Canon in D – Pachelbel
Solo: Ave Maria – Schubert
Unity Candle: Waltz No.15 – Brahms

Postlude: La Réjouissance from ‘Music for the Royal Fireworks’ – Handel

Musicians:
