1 June 2012 | Williams — Thorne Wedding | Bella Donna Chapel

June 12, 2012 by david

a friday afternoon at bella donna

Four Strings provided a string duo for the wedding of Stefanie Williams and Roger Thorne, held on Friday 1 June 2012 at the Bella Donna Chapel in McKinney, TX.

Bella Donna is a favorite venue for us, as it boasts acoustics equal to or better than many designed performance halls. Even the string duo sounds rich and full in Bella Donna.

Here’s a live recording from the prelude to the wedding. No reverb or EQ has been applied.

Prelude
La Girandola from Nine Fantasies for Two Viols (Morley)
Marche from Song of the Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Charpentier)
Meditation from Thaïs (Massenet)
Gavotte, Bouree, and Gigue from Orchestral Suite 3 (Bach)
Praeludium 1 from The Well-Tempered Clavier (Bach)
Prelude to the Te Deum (Charpentier)
Presto from Sonatina in F (Telemann)
Sheep May Safely Graze from Cantata #208 (Bach)
Two Variations from Variations on a Theme of Haydn, Op. 56 (Brahms)
Träumerei from Kinderscenen (Schumann)
Trumpet Voluntary (Stanley)
Air from Suite 1 in F (Handel)
Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (Bach)

Ceremony
Seating of Honored Guests: Air from Orchestral Suite 3 (Bach)
Bridal Party: Canon in D (Pachelbel)

20 August 2011 – Hittle/Arani Wedding – Bella Donna Chapel

August 21, 2011 by david

A mid-afternoon wedding this time, and in a new venue for us – the Bella Donna Chapel in McKinney, TX. The chapel sits on a peninsula surrounded by water in the middle of the Adriatica development, itself inspired by Old World Croatian architecture. The acoustics in the chapel are remarkable – a perfect natural environment for strings. The music for the prelude and ceremony was mostly classical, but with a few surprises thrown in, like this one:

fourstrings · Don’t Stop Believin’ (Live)

Prelude:
Larghetto Cantabile – Chaine
Fanfare from ‘Première Suite de Symphonies’ – Mouret
Ave Maria – Degan

Ave Verum – Saint-Saëns
Trumpet Tune and Trumpet March – Clarke
Allegro, Menuet, and Lentement from ‘Suite in G Major (Water Music)’ – Handel
Air from ‘Suite in F Major (Water Music)’ – Handel

Service:
Seating of Honored Guests: Canon in D – Pachelbel
Processional of the Bridal Party: Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey
Processional of the Bride: Ave Maria – Schubert
